I've just put money down for a Fender Blacktop Stratocaster.
Would any of you like to share your thoughts on this guitar?

Welcome to the forum, you will like it here, lots of good people and usefull information without all the drama and flame wars on some of the other forums. You do realize once you get your Strat it's only natural you will get this strange feeling that life is not complete without a Tele  . Keep us posted, I hope you like it.

The one that I played in a shop had a very warm crisp, but not chimey sound and the build quality seemed to be pretty much on par with the MIM standards. I think a good bang-for-the-buck. Have fun with it!

Congratulations on the new Strat! I really like the whole concept behind the blacktop line: humbucker power, Fender feel. One word of cauution, though, if this is your first Strat. They're kind of addictive.

I think you fellas may be right. I tried one, and I compare it (favorably) to my Big Apple Strat.

I initially went into the music store to check out or purchase a MIM Strat, but got hooked onto the Blacktop instantly after playing it.

Thanks for the replied, I concur that Strats are addictive. This will be the first of many I think :D

Now that you have one with 'buckers, you'll need a single coils model for the set.

but mike, hes gonna need a humbucking tele to match his strat, but after a single's tele to complete the set.
then, then hes gonna want the set in a different color with different options.
then next yrs models will come out.
dude save your money, buy a house and send the kids to college.
you'll be able to do that by the time its all said and done.
