This one is a little different than the last. It has a few nicks and a bit of buckle rash on the back, but it doesn't require a refinish; and is going to be a player. It has the Kahler USA trem and Kahler USA locknut; unlike my other that has a System I or something like that. It is an "E91XXXX" serial number, gotoh tuners, and a 3-ply pickguard. Is this a contemporary? Is it for sure MIJ? any ideas/info would be appreciated.

Those fret markers look wrong to me mate. Too small more than anything.
Can you have a look at the heel of the neck and maybe post a picture of what you find there.

Seems like these were around here in the US in the late 80s/early 90s; one of the many MIJ "Contemporary Strat" variations Fender brought over back then. The last of these had the Kahler Spyder trems like the HM Strats. I remember the model up from this (with a maple veneer top and HSS pickups) also had small dots; I don't think I've ever seen one of these with SSS and the Khaler in the flesh. Not sure if these went anywhere else besides here; they were dropped here when the MIM Prodegy models came out around 1991.

I will probably pull the neck and look, everything needs a good cleaning anyway. Once I do that, I'll have more pics.

I think the position markers were done that way over there, at least for some period...

Yeah I'm probably off.

The center of the markers looks to be bang on. They just look a bit small in comparison to more usuall models.
If two of you are saying they did em like that, I'm obviously off base. It's not a model I'm familiar with.

Great looking guitar either way though.
