Does anyone use the string-guides on the headstock of their H1? I no longer do, it seems to much of a strain on the strings. The angles are just to extreme imo. It helps with the guitar staying in tune, 'specially when using the tremelo.

I've got an older Hwy 1(2002) that I bought in 2002. Played it as is until now. Great guitar. Now that I have been playing it for so long I have a much better understanding of where I want to go with it.

Shes in the shop right now having a set of Texas Specials put in and a Tortise shell pickguard put on. I cant wait to get it back. Next will a soft v neck...if I can find one for a decent price.

I agree with what Cryingstrat said, these guitars are great templates to take them exactly where you want to go. When I get done with her she will be the perfect "custom"strat for me. I have a 65 Custom Shop to play with for now, but I have a feeling when the Hwy 1 comes back she will easily still be my number.

p.s. Mines a honey blonde that has "relic-ed" over the last 6 years on its own. With a maple neck. That tortise shell is gonna look great on there.

Post a pic when you get her back.

I will post a pic of her when she gets back...if she does. I've been waiting for what seems like forever for the pickgaurd to come in. I suppose Fender is taxed with Tortise Shell lovers? Hopefully she will be back soon. Now I can start the search for a neck! Not the biggest fan of the modern neck, liked it at first but as time goes on I seem to dislike it more and more.

I use the string trees. The angles seem fine to me.

Some of the MIM Standards have the string guide screwed directly to the headstock, without any spacer, now that is way too low, with too much of an angle.

Beautiful! I have a Sonic Blue Classic Player 60's too, after seeing yours with the black accessory pack I am even more in love with the way our strats look.
Just out of curiosity, what strings do you find sound nicest working with the CP60's pickups? I am using Ernie Ball pure nickel power slinkys (.11's) at the moment.

What about Kinman noiseless pickups for a Highway One? I bought mine intending to upgrade to noiseless, but found the stock single-coil pickups are so good they are hard to beat. All the same, they do have the overly hot 60s style g string and can hum, and so I want something to beat them. I'm also into Beck noiseless and possibly SCN noiseless that I'm still checking out. Kinman says he's got Fender beat - anyone know?

I actually just put my HSS Highway One back to stock set up. I couldn't get used to the lower output Pearly Gates and the Atomic is perfect. I also put the mint green pickguard back on my Surf Green Highway One... it just looks better in my opinion... Also, how do you post pics here?

Hi, nice! I'm also planning to get new tuners to mine for it to stay in tune better. Are the Schaller Locking ones better than the stock ones and did you have do do any drilling? :?:

I think thats the best thing about the Highway 1's and the MIM's. They're perfect for creating that special Frankenstrat you know you'll love. I consider them templates.

That's an interesting concept Cryingstrat. What do you think of this as a template?

Thanks.

The Schaller tuners are WAY better than original ones. And it fits perfectly without drilling. ;>

My back-to-stock HSS Sunburst Highway One, Surf Green Highway One with a Seymour Duncna Hot Rails in the bridge and MIM Strat with Seymour Duncans: a Custom in the bridge, Twang Banger in the middle and Vintage in the neck. Image
