1st confession: okay so im pretty new especially to electric guitars BUT i can solder and read a diagram.
2nd: I actually wanted a tele when I ended up getting a strat due to lots of reasons but mostly price (tele's seem to hold value better atleast where i'm from) Bought a strat and through in a Seymour Duncan Twang Banger (bridge) 50's fat (middle) and CS 54(neck) I love my new setup however i also bought an s-1 switch (didn't want my strat to look like an "r2 unit with a bad motivator") to get the neck and bridge combo however I have read a little about series, parallel, phase wiring and thought this might be cool too if i could do it with the switch and I know that tele baja has a phase setting and I want that thing so any how... Does anyone have suggestions on how to wire this up to make sense and offer the most for the $47 i spent on the switch with shipping... Thanks Folks!

Howdy and Welcome!

I'm a big fan of the S-1 switch and have got a couple of Strats which i've modded with the S-1. In fact I've just done a build using three S-1 switches. There's a thread for that if your interested. :D

I have to say I really like the Fender Dlx Ash wiring and would recommend it. Here's the links to the Diagram and the switching combos...

Dlx Ash Switching Combos

If you fancy a go at your own custon S-1 wiring this may help.

Let us know how you get on.

If you ignore the green gound wires on the diagram you'll be fine. :D

In short no, the pickup selections are not the same.

Usefull though, the neck and bridge together option isn't on the Deluxe strats.

I've a S1 in the cupboard, think I'll have a go at that later. Any idea on the capacitor value?

no clue on its value sorry... Yeah the bridge and neck is something i would really like. What exactly does the dlx do that this wiring wont allow? I'm really not certain i just know id like to have the bridge+neck and maybe all three option and maybe some phase, series, options if ive done my research its in parallel right now but im not certain on that phase and series stuff just trying to get the most out of my purchase. If i go with one of the other diagrams will i need a new selector i only have the stock. Also i might could do that and wire my bridge to an on off switch... not too sure on that but sounds easy enough.

The S-1 Specials cap value is a 0.05mf. I think its a pretty cheap ceramic job. I have a spare if you want it mate.

I used a 0.022mf Mylar but i think i might change it to a 0.033mf sprague next time i change the strings on mine.

mmorris17, As far as the Bridge on/ofF goes, thats what I like to on my strats. I have the Dlx S-1 Switching and a switch that turns the bridge on so i have All pups on and the bridge and neck. I have a diagram somewhere if you need it. But for that you'll need a 5 way super switch.

The diagram you posted looks like a good option if you only have a standard 5 way.

Howdy!

This diagram has a DP/DT switch to engage the bridge pup. You can use a push/pull pot or a toggle switch for this.

Image

With the S-1 and a super switch you'll get all the tones listed in the second link of my first post here. IMO they offer a good selection of series combos.

With the bridge pup on/off switch you should end up with plenty of different tones to play with.

Let us know how you get on.

Enjoy!

Andy

Awesome I'm going to get to it as soon as i get the other two parts i need. Im probably gonna go with a toggle since it seems easiest for me with the diagram. I'll let you know how it goes.
