I went down to buy an American Standard Olympic White Strat after I finally found a store that had them in stock. . .Anyway, I was really surprised because the color looked creamy off-white, while I was expecting and wanted just plain normal white. The pics I've seen online all look like the guitar is plain white, but most of these places are using the stock pic supplied by fender and I'm thinking maybe the lighting or contrast is maladjusted.
SO, I'm wondering if any of you out there with Olympic White American Standards could post some good pics so I could check out the color a bit better.

I have an olympic white with maple neck. Yes, creamy off-white is the correct hue of olympic white, It's funny as it seems to pick up other colors in the room and looks slightly different depending on light.

I put a tortise pickguard and aged-white knobs and covers on mine and to me its beautiful.

If your looking for pure white...Artic white is white-white like snow.

There seems to be a good bit of variation in Olympic White American Standards. My local Guitar Center has three of them - two are the more common off white and one is decidedly more yellow. Almost a buttery white. I'm not sure if the color fades to the yellower white or if it's just the color batch difference. I prefer the slightly off white version...

I'm glad to know it's not just me then. I looked again at the olympic white american strat on the fender website (as well as some of the online retailers) and it does look bright white, and not the cream off-white that the color likely represents.

It's not just you. I had an '08 American Standard that was more of a bright white. It almost looked liked Arctic White in bright lighting.

I still have an Oly White MIM Jimmie Vaughan that is more of an off white.

It seems that there are various shades of Olympic white, recently myself and the manager of a local music store went around the store and found Olympic White Strats,Teles, basses etc. that were closer to Vintage White or Arctic White and vice versa.

This variability in "identical" Fender models can make it difficult to purchase a fender guitar. While I think it's fantastic that each Fender is slightly unique, I find it makes finding what I want all the more difficult (If they all looked as good as the pics on the fender website, the problem would be solved).
Originally I wanted a seinna sunburst with a nice dark rosewood fretboard. I looked and looked and looked for over a year at all the guitar shops I could find. I never found one I was happy with. First off, American Fenders were scarce the last year or so so finding good selections was difficult. Then the three or four I found were "remains of the day" meaning they had not been sold for a reason (either the fretboard was too light or the wood didn't look right or there was some other imperfection).
Anyway, I gave up on the seinna sunburst and decided to get a white American Standard with rosewood fretboard instead. I figured a white strat would be easy to find as white is a fairly basic color. It isn't. I have only been able to find one (so far) in Los Angeles and it was creamy to the point of looking almost yellow, which is not what I had in mind. And since the feedback I'm getting here is that these variations are not just my imagination but really exist I don't see myself getting a new strat anytime soon.
My brother suggested I order online, but with these variation I want to be able to see the guitar before I purchase it.
So I will continue my search. In the meantime, if anybody sees a nice white American Standard with a rosewood fretboard in the LA area, let me know. . .
