Hi folks,

I play a 50th anniversary American Deluxe. Beautiful guitar, I love it! Unfortunately something has happened to my bridge because my tremolo arm keeps falling out. It used to snap into place but it doesn't do that anymore. Is anyone familiar with this issue? Is there a fix other than a dealer?

Thanks,

Ray

hey man depending on whether its a pop in arm tremolo or a wind in 1 the trem block could be threaded or the piece holding in the trem arm (for pop in) could be faulty.if its a thread problem you might need e new block or a bigger trem arm but i wouldnt no what to do with the pop in arm.either way it shouldnt be a hard thing to fix

It's a Pop in.

Take it to an Authorized Fender Tech and have it checked out.

If its like mine, there is a small screw down on the block that you can adjust the "grab" on the pop-in arm.

Ok rayvaun, I just checked mine. Looking from the back (backplate removed) you will see a couple screws along the side like in this pic (they are the two small ones on the far right side):

I used the small end of an allen wrench to tighten the one closes to the bridge and it adjusted the tension.

Hope it helps.

That's it. But it's awful tight in there. What size allen wrench did you use? I don't want to remove the bridge.

Sorry bud, I don't know the size, and yeah, its really tight.

I ended up taking a hacksaw and shortening the smaller end even more so I could get in there easier.

Yeah as you can see it's pretty tight.

I was about to hack off the end of the wrench when it dawned on me that I could come in from the front by putting the arm in the bridge and dropping the arm towards the body.

I was like... Duh!

Anyway, thanks for your help! I fixed it and it doesn't fall out anymore!
