I have to decied between a maple and a rosewood neck am dlx strat. I have rosewood strat and i love it but im curios about maple fingerboards. Do they last less than the rosewood ? How do they behave in time ?

I hope its not the last guitar i buy but its going to be at least for some years so i really want to buy the right one.

Please people can you aid me in this with some expiriences ??

Am Dlx Strats have maple fretboards that are finished in polyurethane along with the rest of the guitar. Poly is a VERY tough finish. Don't worry about it checking or wearing away like nitro finished maple fretboards.

Choose maple or rosewood depending on which one you like the feel of and/or looks best to you.

I've owned both and with proper care they should last a lifetime.I prefer maple ,but to each his own.I did love my rosewood prior to it's theft ,but am glad I went maple this round

Maple is somewhat harder than rosewood and although the finish may slightly wear off the maple fretboard after many years of playing it shouldn't ever wear out and get grooved out.BTW the rosewood on my '65 Strat neck has become slightly worn and grooved in some overplayed places-particulary where the first owner played the 3 chords he knew.
