Six months ago I would have said, get the Tele first, but I bought a '62 AV reissue Strat this summer and cannot put it down. My Tele is an AV '52 Reissue and I love it, but the Strat seems to have the edge. My band does a lot of the same kind of music and it works for everything. Good luck!
