Yes i know people will hate me for asking this but what would you do in my shoes. I really wanted a 62 reissue strat in surf green. Played one a guitar center and loved it. I also played a 62 reissue tele (I am a rosewood guy), a american standard tele and loved it them. I am currently torn between which of the three to get (its far off into the future but i just cant stop thinking about fenders)

i guess the only problem is that fender stopped making 62 RI strats in Surf green and i can only find a few left online.

So what should i do when it comes down to it would you rather get a 62 strat or a tele FIRST

I am going to get both but its which one to get first.

i play alot of blues, classic rock, country, folk, and folk rock. Pretty much all over the place

Any opinions of suggestions would help

thanks

Tough decision. Either way you win. I'd say go for the strat first, then you can go for the tele when the opportunity arises. That's what I did (Originally I never planned on getting a tele, it just happened).

I'm in kind of the same situation. I don't want to give up any of the gear I have now but been wanting a Mexican Strat with Texas Specials. NEVER liked Teles but while Strat shopping tried a few and now want one. Now Ive gone from knowing exactly what I wanted to trying to decide whether to get a Mexican Tele and put off the MIM Stat for a long time, getting a Squier Tele and just delay the new Strat for a little while, or stay with the original plan and pick up a Tele in a few years. Really want to upgrade to a Mexican but if can only afford one would rather it be a Strat than a Tele. But then, really want a Tele and already have a Strat.

I'd get the Strat first since it seems limited in availability. It'll only get tougher to find. Then get the Tele.

I was the same way...got a Strat and then ran across a Tele without looking for one. Played it and I HAD to have it! Something about that body and sound...

Good luck in your decision!

Since you are going to get both, work it to get a package deal price for both.

It will save you money in the long run.

I love Strats...if my name doesn't give it away...LOL, I love Teles...you can never go wrong with either one!! That said if the Strat is in limited quantities get it first! I have a HWY 1 Tele in Honey Blonde...they are now hard to find. I am so glad I bought it when I did!

Grab it while you can. Otherwise you'll have regret!

Get the Strat first as the Teles are far easier to come by than mint green Strats.

How about.... which guitar feels/sounds best.

I just bought an american standard tele, sunburst and maple neck, the choice was between 3 other tele's ( a special, a deluxe and I forget the third) and a 60th Anniversary strat hardtail in a transparent blue finish and rosewood neck.
The strat was the 1st choice but had found a home when I returned to the shop.
However, already having 3 strats, the tele was a good choice. This is hind sight since making a choice is never as simple as it appears when first walking in to the store.

I have both and was in your shoes.. I would get the strat first if you are dead set on the 62.. Get it then the tele. You really can't compare them.. Sure they both have twang but 2 different sounds.. Love them both!!

Don't get hung up on specific colors etc. Those are all more than solid gutiars. Trust me you will fall in love with either. The love affair comes with time and ownership.
