hmmm - shall I tell you that I am the proud owner of the complete box set of the MPython series? It is my absolute favourite, and I have seen it many times now and I never get sick of it. My favourite sketch at the moment is Ms Anne Elk presenting her theory (and who's it is, of course!) about the Brontosaurus. Comic genius.

Closely followed by Fawlty Towers and Blackadder... ah, British TV! I don't normally come across too many Americans who like this sort of humour - but, since you're in actual fact from Mars... ;-) Anyway, we are musicians, a special breed, are we not!

Hopefully you'll only be treated to a tiny sample of what's been flying around, I trust - edited highlights! I'm sitting here looking at what must be well over 50 emails in my intray. What fun we've all been having! :D

And the story ain't finished yet...

Cheers all - C

Well, since we're quoting Monty Python's Flying Circus here I suggest we sing a song about wonderful Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam... WONDERFUL SPAAAAAAAAAAM! :)

Monty Python routines...

Many (many) years ago when Turkey had just had a military coup and the streets were full of soldiers I was in Istanbul with a cool, tall, skinny Dutch dude I was travelling with. For no reason at all he suddenly started doing Ministry of Silly Walks stuff up and down the road - right in front of a checkpoint full of aggressive looking guys with huge rifles. I don't think my Dutch fella particularly meant it as a comment on them - but they didn't take at all kindly to some foreigner goose-stepping around in an exaggerated John Cleese way before their eyes.

I had visions of Midnight Express run through my head and decided we had to leave. Quick.

(I should point out I've visited Turkey many times over nearly 30 years and find it one of the most charming and fun places on the planet. Love those people. Especially Istanbul. Check it out - it's great!)

Cheers - C

OK, I'm jealous. The whole series, wow! Well, at least I can honestly say I have the whole Fawlty Towers series! LOL

I think my favorite MP sketch was Ken Shabby. Even my wife couldn't stop laughing and she still refers to that sketch sporadically.

Blackadder is great too.

I'm a HUGE fan of British TV as was my father whose parents came from Great Britain.

Regardless, we are indeed a special breed for sure!!

Ooops - I have that one too! :D
My main goal moving to Britain recently is obviously to get access to cheaper prices for such box sets...

Those sets are an investment in sanity if you ask me. A price I happily pay. Every time I feel in the dumps (don't be silly, chums) I just stick a MP DVD on and I feel instantly better.

:)

I kind of figured you had the FT package.

It's true! No matter how lousy a mood I can be in, a few minutes with a MP disc wipes out the negativity.

"No one ever expects the Spanish Inquisition!!"

Maybe this build should be called "Bring out your dead"-caster.

Do we really have to dredge up 40 odd year old 'comedy' routines?

Sorry the funniest thing I ever found out of python was the hurling of livestock at Camelot.
Give me Benny Hill any day of the week.

I liked Benny Hill too. Unfortunately, over here we only got to see "sanitized" versions of his shows.

Ok I see the future clearly. This must be some kind of prescience.

I must build a Benny Hill tribute strat. Complete with nipple tone and volume controls and a bra for a trem arm.

Benny Hill looks very sanitized everywhere in the world these days mate. As I suspect he always did. (my folks let me watch him as a kid)

I think it was more the fear of lude behavior than actuall smut that made him great. He always seemed to balance perfectly on that knife edge.

Man, for some reason I stopped getting notifications on this thread. Meanwhile I was getting emails from people in this thread about this thread--oh dread..... I missed out.

I love build threads too,
so let's see what we can do...

Now strumming G and then C and the G, quickly toss in an Am for a little variation...
