Dear Martian
sorry to hear that you are Stratless for the first time in 42 years. These things some time happen and I hope that this community can help you assemble another and that you will accept our help. I know that all the help you have offered other on these forums was never with the intention of repayment of anykind, however I personally feel that I owe your a debt of gratitude for all the help you have so kindly given to myself and many, many others.
Here is what I have to offer if you wish.
MIM std. neck 9.5 med jumbo maple.
Tuners to suit this neck, either std MIM or locking Schallars.
Neck plate with screws.
I have a variety or trems, six point with wide mounting spread and wide string spread,or six point with wide mounting spread with narrow string spread both with steel block.
Or American series 2 point or AM Deluxe 2 point.
I have other hardware that may be required just about everything except a body.
If you need any or all of these items I would be delighted to have you have them, cheers,Craig

As this is a joint effort, once I have enough parts assembled to build a Strat, I will post pictures of everything in a new build thread. (When the time comes, I would need someone to guide me through how to post pictures here.) We'll agree on what would be best and then, I'll go to work.

One thing we can get started on now is a proper name for OUR custom, signature guitar. Possibly something along the lines of all us anonymous players being identified with this 'model'. Of course, it shall be an outstanding Strat, nicely tweaked. It won't have 40 pickups and 80 switches though. It shall be more along the lines of anyone's #1, "Go To Guitar".

I must say this up front though: I no longer have a shop nor access to one and now live in an apartment so I can no longer do finishes; I'll simply work with whatever color the body and neck currently are.

Phobos or Deimos

The moons of Mars

The only down side is that they are both mythological forces summoned by the roman god Ares. Phobos is fear, Deimos is dread.

I always thought Terra Sabaea to be a particularly beautifull name for a wide open area of Mars.

One of the worst things about the internet 'at large' is (and has been stated), context is totally interpretive where only the poster knows truly what (s)he really meant. Having said this, I surely have created a shining example of directly related ambiguity!

I profoundly apologize for causing such a literary 'scene' as all I meant to get across was my good fortune on being able to sell my Strat for a profit where I could pay some bills and the fact that I was given a PRS as a loaner. It was a thought totally secondary nature which made me realize that I'll be without a Strat for the first time in most of my life. I surely wasn't trying to be melodramatic about it.

Again, I apologize and at the same time, thank you all for your concerns, kind words and wonderful generosities.

hey martian i have got some tuners from an MIA strat i replaced with locking tuners. they are in perfect order. if your interested. no charge pal.
you have offered to help so many times. i will happily part way and mail them to you. 8)

The Nutter does a great post on how to post pics here. I'm sure he'll be along soon to post that.

For a name I quite like Nicks offering of "Terra Sabaea". I also the "Galle-caster" after the Happy face crator on Mars

ohhh, now, it's not that great...
...but here it is.

I'd create an account at photobucket.com or some other hosting service. There you upload the pictures.
You can embedd pictures if you paste links into the message you're creating, then highlight the link and press on the "Img"-button at the top of the menu.

Or, and even easier, you can trigger an already formatted link of the desired image straight from photobucket, and simply paste it into the message.

I hope this helps (I really do, since I'm kind of addicted to build threads )

I like Sabaea also. Or we could keep it simple and call it the M-Strat. M for Martian, but M is also the Roman numeral for 1,000. And a thousand good wishes at least join you and your new Start on this journey! (may sound corny but I think it rings true in this case).

But I think the last word should be with Martian, since he's going to live with it for at least the next 42 years! ;-)

Best regards,

-Nutter

Hi Martian:

Tuesday morning where I am: oooo - the flurry of excitement and activity that's been happening on stage and off in the last 24 hours! :D

Personally, I'm drooling down my shirt at the thought of a Mars based build thread. It's the one we've all been waiting for!

Those that need to know I'm fully up for whatever requires to be done on this...

Respect and good vibes to all! Great stuff.

Cheers - C
