I have had this strat since 2000 I bought it new at that big shop outside of DC in Maryland , Levins or something like that I think I bought a "52 reissue Tele at he same time. Well anyway I thought I had bought an Am DLX Teal green Fat Strat I looked at the serial number today and it was Z00###### I looked at the number on the Fender site and the Am Dlx should have had a D with the number. I doen't really matter I am not selling it or anything I am just curious. The rosewood neck has the abalone dots and the Fender script on the head stock is silver metal. Any body got a clue? I don't play it often as I am more of a tele guy.

Nice American Deluxe Fat Strat there AKRod.

You have a guitar with a noted Fender serial number screw-up - for a while in early 2000 Fender used "Z0XXXXXX" serial numbers instead of "DZ0XXXXXX" serial numbers on some American Deluxes. I don't know if it was a production mess-up or they simply didn't get in the "DZ0XXXXXX" decals in time.

Something similar happened in 1990; Fender accidentally used N9XXXXX serial numbers (which would have been for 1999) instead of N0XXXXX serial numbers.
