Hey guys, a while ago i picked up this strat from an old fella who said that him and a bunch of friends made a very very long time ago, and that the electronics they used were from an expensive strat that non of them could afford. But one day it fell off the wall and they bought it off the shop for parts and used the parts to make this one. Ive also been told by other people that the other parts on it look like the bridge is from a gibson and the tuners are from an old Vega acoustic. The only numbers i can pull of it are one of the pots (013446 250K) and the caps(Erie 022uf/400vD.C).

Also, a friend of my found this harmony, we havent a clue anything about it, can anyone help?

I wouldn't call that one a Strat; in fact I can't tell if it is a home-made guitar or some type of odd late 70s import of some kind. If it is a home-made then they had the capability to build a neck-through guitar. Hopefully someone more familiar with Fender's MIJ pickups will chime in; I'm not sure if those are Fender MIJs or some other MIJ Strat-style pickups. 'It looks like a Leo Quan Baddass-type bridge (used on some Gibsons and Epiphones in the early 80s and on a lot of non-trem original BC Richs from the 70s/80s. Definitely an oddity.

Sorry, all I know about Harmony is that name has been bought and sold several times, and is typically applied to a line of student-leve imports. It's also a cool looking piece.

The neck pickup looks like it's been repaired or rewound. The middle pickup looks the same way too though not as good a job.

Aside from that theres not much to remark on about it, unless I'm really missing something. The pots and switch look like budget mid 80's stuff.
The neck joint is interesting I'd like to see better pictures of the guitar as a whole. I don't think it's a home made job, unless someone like Brian Eastwood made it.

I also contacted brian eastwood earlier today to see if he could have a quick look at it but i was told he has a really bad case of conjunctivitis and he was sat in bed in a dark room all weekend. Poor fella.

OK now were getting somewhere. The guitar isn't a thrown together in some blokes shed job.

Looking at this

http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/9461/dscf1655k.jpg

You can see whoever carved the body had more than a rudimentary knowledge of how things should be. Note the shamfer's on the one side of the pickup cavities. Allowing the wire to exit, whilst keeping as much timber in there as possible.
Same for the control cavity

Also look at the neck joint. It looks like a set neck or bolt on from the front.
Though this picture shows it to be a 2 piece neck of neck through construction.

Clearly not knocked up by some lads having a go. Though the routing for the electronics cavities seems a little scrappy. I think it's more a case of someone with a clue working with rudimentary tools.

Very interesting piece.

Its a nice guitar, sounds insane. Seriously, it sounds as good as an american deluxe strat we compared it to but at a serious price.

The Weight. This thing is SOLID maple. The weight is harsh.
AND the neck too, its really thick. Its thicker than a gibson neck. This is odd to me since im used to Wizard necks (Ibanez).

However the sound is amazing, in my twin this thing has alot of bottom end but still has alot of sparkle. its great.
