heya A few weeks back i was jamming on my strat when my whammy broke. Actually, the bar broke off inside the actual bridge. When i went to get it checked out, the guitar repair shop told me id need a whole new trem.
Can anyone recommend a suitable new brand or where to get a new bridge? I dont have the money of time to send away for a floyd-rose, but something of that quality would be awesome.

Hi NomisGref,

You could just replace the block and arm with a Callaham, $75 plus shipping, or the whole bridge. Check the "Block Details" to find the correct replacement parts for your Strat. Although you didn't say what kind of bridge that you have. :)

Can you get the broke off bit out of the block?

If so just buy a new arm. Sounds like the bloke at the shop was just trying to make a bigger sale than a trem arm.

If the bar has broken off not too far into the trem unit, you could disassemble the trem unit. Cut a slot into the top of the broke off arm piece and use a flat headed screwdriver to unscrew the arm.
Maybe that would work???

We need a picture here, is this a standard tremolo or is it a Floyd Rose?

You could use a special bit called an Easyout that has a reverse thread and taps into the broken screw with a drill and removes the cracked off part.
