I was just playing my strat and I noticed that when ever I touched a metal part there was a pop and there was less buzzing when in single coil and when i put it in position 2 or 4 there was the popping and the buzzing stopped I was wondering what causes this because just yesterday it wasn't doing this.

It sounds like a ground wire maybe came loose check inside the backplate to see if the ground wire is let go from vibrato assembly if not you'll have to look under the pickguard.

I just checked the grounding wire and its nice and firm so i guess i'll take it to the shop tomorrow, I'm not comfortable doing anything with the wiring under the pick-guard(something i hope to remedy soon with my squier} . thanks for your help guitslinger.

since i'm going to have to get the guitar looked at i was wondering about how much would i be charged to have it looked at and have a switch to turn on the neck pick up on positions 1 and 2?
