Okay, I'm new to the Fender forums and I've got a question. I've got a Carvin CT6C that I might be trading for a MIA strat with a David Gilmour pickup set and an Original Floyd Rose. This guitar looks to be in perfect condition, there is a link to a picture of it below. My Carvin was 1945 give or take a couple bucks and I got it April 2007, ther only sign that it isn't brand new is a little bit of gelt rash on the trem cavity cover. ANYWAY, now that I've gotten done rambling what would you say that this strat is worth?

It is kind of hard to say based on that one photo, and no serial numbers, etc.
Fender made an American Floyd Rose Classic between 1992-1998 with an original Floyd Rose, they blue book at 850-900. I know nothing about the pickup set, but I would be wary. Also It would appear that the floyd was a modification to this guitar, as a factory Floyd would not have or need what looks like a string tree.

I have a 1992 FR Classic with picks here:

Okay, sorry I forgot to put the serial number. Its serial number is Z1019219. It has been routed for a Floyd by Ed Roman, http://www.edroman.com, and has a David Gilmour pickup set. I have two more pictures of it that don't show much more about it, but it is in perfect condition.

It would appear that you are looking at a 2001 American strat (Z1 in the SN) which are going for about 700? (buy it now prices on ebay 800 ish)

A brand new MIA Strat is 950

The Gilmour Pickups (I would assume is the Whole Pickguard assembly) are 300 bucks new

The Original Floyd is 170 bucks new.

If you are buying it beacause it is completely what you want, and you have no plans to mod or change anything it MIGHT be worth it.

I personally wouldnt do it unless the guitar just clicks with you, and since it has been modified you have to realize that the guitar will most likely not increase in value over an all original.

I hope some other folks here chime in on this, as this is just one persons opinion.

Good luck with wahtever you decide.

John

Well see the thing is I want a Iron Maiden-esque strat, I love Maiden and I'm not trying to get what they have just for the sake of it I like Fenders and Strats a lot. I would depending on the pickups have them changed for an HSS, probably just put a Duncan distortion in the bridge, and I guess that means a pickgaurd change. I guess I'll have to think about this trade more, since I could probably get a strat and mod it in the next few months if I sold my Carvin instead.

Any other opinions?
