I just got done putting this "dream Strat" together!!! Its a 2010 American Standard Strat. I had it custom painted tangerine orange with silver holographic metal flake. Its unreal in the sunlight. Ive tried everyway possible to capture the light effect, but this is the best I could do. Ill try to get it outside tomorrow and get better pics!!! Let me know what you think!!!

Candy Tangerine on an American Standard? Very unusual colour! Actually Fender doesn't offer American Standards in Candy Tangerine - they offered the American Deluxe series in that colour between 2001 and 2006.

The beauty under the hood are the three Lace Sensors (Blue=neck, Silver=middle, Red=Bridge) mounted on an elegant white pearloid scratchplate. Blue is warm and punchy like an early 1950s humbucking pickup. Silver emulates a fat-sounding 70s single-coil pickup. Red has the hottest output of the Sensor series and delivers an extremely hot humbucking sound. The electronics were also overhauled - a standard tone control for the neck pickup and a TBX circuit for the middle/bridge pickups.

Hi matt3310: that holographic sparkle thing is unreal! Wow!

That's a new one on me (though I have some wrapping paper that looks quite similar...). Mind telling us who did the paint work for you? Is the holographic element available off the shelf for us home painters? What should we ask for - and where?

Anyhow. Knockout job, man! Congrats.

Cheers - C

Does this guitar use an Eric Clapton Active Mid-Boost Kit? Or it's a stock "Plus" circuit?

The Red Sensor sounds awesome with the 25dB boost. The boost further adds a little extra "oomph" to get you over the top during a solo.

Having seen an American Special Strat HSS painted like the original "Crash 1" and wired like a Strat Ultra with a humbucking Red/Red dually in the bridge, an original Floyd Rose locking system and the Clapton electronics and was fascinated how the mid-boost would sound with Red Lace pickups - either as singles or humbucking duallies (though that circuit was primarily designed for use with Gold Lace Sensors).

No mid boost, but that might change. It was painted by my friend Mitch Omar. Ill put a link to his site at the bottom. The Flake is VERY expensive. He said it was around a grand per jar. But it looks amazing in person. I cant capture the look on camera!

wow hardware stripped down, painted, and reassembled all in the same day. didnt have to let the paint cure a bit before buffing?
should have taken about 3 days to do i would thing.
i use to paint cars and it took a while for a paint job to cure and be buffed if i didnt put the car in the bake cycle.

The Custom Shop had a black holoflake guitar they made in 92,93 with a similar finish. A very 3-D effect it makes the paint appear to be as thick as the guitar. It looks really good on stage with the right lighting. They pop up on e-bay once in a while. Nice job on yours.
