My hype at first was for a strat with CS69 in it. But this FSR came across my way, and I was GASed up so I had to have it.
I understud that CSTS and CS69 are different animals. But in the end ( I don´t actually have any CS69 to compare ) will lowering the pickups almost flush with the pickguard will have the TS sounding a little more cleaner to get closer to a CS69 ?

Glad to see this baby with a Mercedes Blue finish - reminds me the original Mark Kendrick-masterbuilt Strat used by Eric Clapton in Hyde Park in 1996!

And why not purchasing a brand-new set of Golds if you are GASsing a lot for these world-famous pickups? Try the Hot Golds, they've the same high-end sparkle and glass you might expect from the regular Golds, plus a fat, full bottom end and singing midrange as a bonus. You'll also benefit from an EXTRA HOT bridge pickup (13.2k!) for the harder rockin' and searing solos that made Clapton famous.

That might sound noob, but I must ask. I´ve unscrewed the pickguard for lubbing the pots, and I saw that cause its stock, there were no Custom Shop Sticker on the pickups, so I wonder, this is the same Custom Shop Texas-Specials that are sold as a set of 3 at online stores, isnt it? Or theres more then 1 type of Texas Specials? I´ve compared the pole pieces and it seems preety much the same.

I saw that SRV strat and Knopler strat comes in the same specs for pickups.
Would those pickups be the Custom Shop Texas-Specials, or theres a stock production for them just made-to-spec but not actually a Custom Shop Texas Special pickup on those guitars it comes stock ?

when i lowered mine flush, they sounded sweet.
press on the 22th fret , measure the heights of the pickups from the top
of the pole piece to the bottom of the strings for each pu bass and treble side.
then lower them flushto the pg on the bass side with treble side raised a tad higher, 2/64 of difference.

oh, 1st record a couple of riffs, and chord stuff, then lower the pus.
and record the same riffs and chords clean and dirty.
see which you like better.

i like the Texas specials ok but they did need to be moved around a bit. they are definitely hotter than the pickups in my 88 American standard. also i didn't like the stock strings at all, but that is usually the case with me. nothing a set of pyramid pure nickel strings cant fix :D sounds perfect now!

I tried lowering them down last night and.... BAMM!
That´s the tone I was looking for, just between bright, chimey and punchier. The neck pickup bass side is flush or almost, and the others linedup with the neck, the mid a little higher and the bridge a little higher than the middle. Sounds just about right, thanks for the tip on the Texas Specials guys! 8)
