Hello all. I haven't posted here for a while, but always watching....

I am really wanting a Strat in Cherry Burst, with six point trem, vintage tuners and maple neck. Can anyone tell me what model would fit this the closest?

Custom Shop yeah, but what about a standard model with minor swap outs?

BTW I have checked the Product list..........

Cheers, Pete

Squier had a cherry sunburst Standard Strat with chrome hardware and large headstock. This guitar was available only with a RW neck.

Hi Pete: I stand to be corrected, but I think that's going to be a bit difficult to find. Cherryburst counts in some minds as a "modern" finish and the tuner and bridge specs you mention qualify as "vintage" - and the company don't often mix the two.

I do remember an FSR (Factory Special Run) MIM Standard Strat a year or two back that came in Sienna Sunburst, which is pretty close to Cherryburst in appearance. That had modern type standard tuners but a six-screw bridge, so that gets a fair bit of the way towards what you are looking for.

FSRs can run into reasonable numbers produced and I seem to recall that those Sienna 'bursts were quite thick on the ground - they were done through Guitar Center or Musician's Friend, if I remember right. So you could probably find them now and again on Ebay - though of course probably not in Australia. This would cost you some shipping on top of the guitar price.

But maybe I'm completely wrong and there's a guitar somewhere in the catalog that exactly fits your requirements. It won't take long for someone to point it out if so...

Or: must you really have that "vintage" spec hardware? Why? If not, then the Am Std in Sienna or the Am Dlx Ash in Cherry Sunburst are guitars of great beauty and playability. No good for you...?

Cheers - C

Question asked, question answered! :D

Hot damn - that's a mighty nice guitar! Do we want to play it - or just gaze at it? Yummy! 8)

This guitar is also available in Blizzard Pearl with a warm-sounding rosewood fingerboard.

Stays in tune better with a set of locking machineheads and an LSR Roller Nut.

The only one I've seen.

Customshop 54RI with a maple cap. I had the pleasure of working on earlier this year.

Glad I didn't see the price tag, very much a players guitar though. One of the most endearing and captivating necks I've ever had my hands around. Including the ex wifes.

This FSR 2010 "Active" US Standard has a battery compartment on the back, a feature the EC, BG and RS models didn't have. You no longer need to remove the backplate when a battery runs dry :P

The guitar comes stock with Vintage Noiseless pickups, which is an OEM on the Eric Clapton model since 2001. Why not to offer this baby with a set of Gold Lace Sensors?

Ninja, the cherryburst '54 reissue is amazing! Can you tell us the name of the master builder who was responsible for this masterpiece?

BTW, I suppose this baby has three Texas Special pickups, even it's not as 100% certain.

It's not masterbuilt. It's a mid 90's teambuilt. The neck is stamped by Oscar Palleres who is/was a neck specialist of some note.
The owner told me the pickups were CS54's, though I thought they sounded like 57/62's.
Who knows?

No Ceri, it's not that i really must have it, I really just want it!!

Thanks everyone for the info and eye candy.

Nikininja, I was drooling over the end of that Custom Shop neck before I even read your post!!

With so many Strat models and options to look at I won't get bored around here..........

Thanks, Pete

EDIT: That FSR at Musicians Friend is   8) 8)

According to the MF website they won't ship to Australia. If this thing gets serious is anyone prepared to receive the guitar in the US and ship it over?

I have had a few big boxes containing big Gretsches in cases shipped from the US using USPS for around $100 (of course I will pay postage..hehe)

PS There is a used one on the MF website which really shows the Cherry Burst. mmmmmmm :D
