new paint smell

i have a 2010 american standard lefty that has a new paint smell ,, is it because of the new thin paint job ? mine is blizzard pearl ,,, i also have a 2006 AMSTD white that dont smell like someone painted it with a spray can ,, thanks for the insight info [size=18][/size]

Are you sure that the smell isn't from the case? I have an '08 in Blizzard Pearl, sweet color, but no smell. Sometimes the cases smell though, some kind of glue, maybe?

BTW, messages with huge typing are the equivalent of yelling on the forum (not nice). No need to make the font size bigger than it normally is. So far, none of us have trouble reading the normal size.

We can't read the really small print either.

Hi sorry bout the large letters in my first post ,, and yes it is the body that smells like fresh paint ,,, the date of this body is august 2010 ,, im not sure when they started the nitro-paint on the American Standards but my other one dont have that paint can smell ,, just wondering if its the paint job with less clear on it that makes it smell so strong ,,, thanks again for the info

I'm a painting contractor by trade.Just take the guitar outta the case and set it on a stand for a few days. Provide a safe place where no harm will come to it...such as dog knocking it over or kids.The smell should dissipate in a few days max.I have sprayed more lacquer and polyurethane than I care to admit :wink:

I don't think that the Am Std has nitro at all. I'm pretty sure that it is and has always been a poly finish. Sounds like you got a really fresh one though. :lol:
