i recently purchased a set of 69 custom shop pickups and the middle pickup is not reverse wound and im wondering if i just reverse the wire connection will that give me the hum canceling in the 2 and 4 position just like a reverse wound pickup ?

I don't think that you will get the result that you expect. Group member Martian explained in the past threads about this issue.

I have CS69 in my MIM strat and they hum but unless you need it that quiet for recording, who cares let them hum that is what they are all about hum and piano clarity. Cut the guitar volume if the hum bothers you when not played.

Other thing is later if you collect more pickup sets you can mix and match to get a really good configuration ala CS Deluxes I believe.

CS 69 neck, RWRP 57/62 mid, CS Texas Special bridge.

A reverse wound pickup and standard pickup with reverse wire is not the same.
It won't do the humm cancelling

You don't need hum free for recording anyway. Any engineer worth paying can sort the problem at the desk.
Better off having stock polarity and retaining the traditional strat sound in positions 2&4.

I installed a set of the wonderful 1969's, I put one in the bridge and one in the neck, but I put a reverse wound reverse polarity fat 50's pick up, this is how I got hum canceling in 2 7 4, and the tone and output match up quite well, the voice and color are different, but very complementary to each other.

If you need a link to an E-bayer that sells just the one pick up for the middle, I will be willing to shoot it to you.
