Dear Fender enthousiasts,

I am a great fan of everything Fender, and have never ever had any kind of bad experience with any Fender product, up until now.

My 3 months old 2010 am.std. strat just died on me!

All I get is some kind of low frequency buzzing and a few faint guitar sounds here and there. It seems like the signal isn't coming through.
The input is tightened sufficiently, and the guitar hasn't been exposed to any rough circumstances at all. In fact, I was playing it just yesterdaynight, and this afternoon the sound was gone.
(It spent the night in my rehearsal room, wich is dry, warm and closed!)

Yes I have tried it with several amps, fx, cables but the conclusion is that the problem is situated in the guitar.

I'm taking it to the shop tomorrow, but nonetheless.
Has anyone else ever had this kind of experience with a brand new strat?
I just can't wrap my mind around it.

Sounds like one of the leads to the output jack came lose. Just unscrew the two screws holding the output jack and see if one is hanging free.

If this is the case, it is a five min fix - to solder the lead back on.

Otherwise, I'd check under the 'hood' and see if any other wires seemed to have come off.

I agree with the previous post. A wire came undone. Check "under the hood" by first removing the input jack cover to make sure the leads are still connected. After almost 4 years of constantly plugging and unplugging my strat, my input jack virtually fell apart last night. I just ordered a new switchcraft input jack. Hopefully it will last longer than stock electronic components.

I agree with the others that more than likely it is just a loose solder connection, probably at the out put jack. Easy fix. It will take longer for the soldering iron to heat up than it will to actually perform the repair.

I can sense your frustration because this is a new guitar. It shouldn't happen to a new guitar. If you are not handy with a soldering iron, than take it back to the shop and have them do it or exchange it. Your new guitar is covered under warranty.

Start with the smile stuff. Check your guitar cable with another guitar if one is available. If the cable is ok, check under the pickguard. Make sure there not any loo cables or wires there. Next, check the guitar's jack. If everything is connected, time to take it to an authorized Fender repair shop. If you just purchased it, it should be under warranty.

Being a new guitar, sounds like it very well may have been a cold solder joint upon assembly.
Not the end of the world, simple fix as the previous posts advised.

Dear Fenderheads, peace has returned to my attic!

Because it was still covered under warranty I took it to the shop first thing this morning!

When we unscrewed the jack cover, one of the wires was dangling about, it also seemed as if one of twe two wires (the loose one) was kind of cramped into the space, and not as neatly soldered as the other one.

But, you were all right, a quick fix with the soldering iron and it was good to go once again!

However, Metropolis74 actually described it best, It's not a huge matter, but a frustrating one. It shouldn't occur on a new guitar, right?

Thanks for the reply's all!
