So l Had Some Buzz on mostly the G string and slightly the B and E string and also some of the Bass strings (so might have needed a truss rod adjustment) but l do not want to mess with the rod and risk ruining my baby so l adjusted the high E , B and G Strat saddles for the first time ever ln my guitar life and lt cured the problem instantly for those strings

l guess the question l have now ls lf the two screws on the bridge saddles arent level after adjustments does that damage the guitar or strings or anything and does lt matter lf the G and B string are higher off the fretboard then the other strings, does that affect intonation or the truss rod

thanks, just a worry wort

You may get a slight change in intonation. Hardly ever anything to concern yourself with.
When this problem arises again, try changing strings mate. Old worn strings can present the sympoms you described.

It's a good idea to keep the saddles level. It won't hurt anything being unlevel, but it looks ugly and you risk the string moving downhill to the lower side of the saddle if you do a big string bend in that direction.

Check this out if you have not already: http://www.fender.com/support/stratocas ... _guide.php

If you are hesitant to do your own work on your guitar, take it in to a pro to get it set up and ask lots of questions. And read a lot, especially Dan Erlewines books on guitar maintenance. Good luck.

If you do a lot of picking down by the bridge area, be careful not to slice your digits on the set screws if they're stickin' up.

I always try and make sure that each saddle is level - makes them more secure and less likely to slip around on the bridge plate.

Once I've done that, I make sure the line of all 6 saddles (usually a slight curve) matches the radius of the neck. That way, each string is the same height above the fretboard. This makes your general playing action reliable and predictable. It also makes it easier to bend a string against it's neighbour - it will have room to slip under the string next to it.

The saddles at the mid width - D and G - I keep at the same height. This is the central point.

Remember to slacken the string before moving it's saddle. This will ensure that the grub screw in the saddle isn't damaged by unnecessary tension. It's very easy to damage the heads of these screws otherwise, and you find your allen key no longer fits them properly.

Is it a vintage trem or two point trem?
