Well, just to finish the story, chose this in the end:



Parchment white (ok not much originality there, but at least its not plain white!!). It looks ordinary in the photo, but actually it looks great - miles better than the mint green slime. AND I bought it prewired with proper electronics and Bareknuckle pickups, Irish Tours, so pretty damn pleased.

Just discovered today how good a compressor/sustainer is with the Strat on clean through a tube amp seriously loud and using the guitar volume to keep things under control. A good guitar day!!!

I agree with you Joe. Parchment looks much better than mint green on a sunburst Strat. I recently bought a 2010 American Deluxe HSS sunburst Strat, which only comes with a mint green pickguard. It doesn't look as good as my sunburst American Standard with the parchment pickguard, which really makes it stand out.

Asking an opinion on colors that go well with a sunburst is asking for a lot of different replies, hehe. My personal favorite with a burst is the tortoise shell.
