So, I walk into my local pawn shop and sitting in the corner is this surf green squier says bullet series on the headstock.

I'm a sucker for surf green and so i pick it up, strummed it a few times and set it down.

Long story made short here, I went back today and bought it for way under 100 bucks, this guitar plays GREAT ! and sounds Great !!! I was all ready to find some pickups and pots and get out the soldering iron.

I can't wait to pull the pickguard and see whats under the hood, maybe someone swapped out the guts before i got it ? sonds way to good to be ceramic bar magnet pups.

The frets were excellent, no harsh edges at all.

If this is a stock squier fender mexico is in trouble !

i agree there are squiers that are really good guitars. i have a jagmaster alot of people bring down squiers as crap and alot are but there are some that are waya above thier class and are better than some mexi fenders for sure

Believe me it wasn't a rant on the mexi stuff, I have a few standards and they are amazing too. its just that for the price the squiers are really nice guitars, better value for the buck.

I should say at least this little gem is, still have yet to dig in and see if there are any mods that contribute to the sweetness of this guitar.

Again the fit finish and fret work are outstanding !

That's cool bro - I like me some budget axe myself! Saw that very same guitar in the local shop and I have to admit, it looked pretty sweet in surf green!

I have a 97 Squier that I bought new. It is rock solid, stays in tune, and is very loud acoustically.

Congrats on the find. Enjoy.

I have a closet full of the old USA Bullets from 82-83, and love them all !!! Sounds like you pulled off a great deal. It's your money and time, If your happy, Fender has met it's goal (even out of the pawn shop heaps).

Its kinda funny but I keep finding these cheap knock off guitars that play and sound great.

I picked up an asian made gold top les paul a few months ago the last owner swapped out all of the pots and three way with Gibson stuff and put some killer aftermarket P-90's in it. (tonerider hot p-90's)

I have had several offers from guitar playing friends for the guitar.

I'll see about posting pictures of my recent finds.

The asian made gold top sounds killer through my DRRI, the pickups are just hot enough to get into overdrive country at about 2.5 on the volume with my route 66 comp on.
