Yeah theres plenty of people on here that can and will help you.

Post some pictures of it mate, someone will soon comment.

To post pictures follow this.

Upload the pictures you want to display to a site called PhotoBucket.

http://photobucket.com/

Once you have done that. If you hover your mouse cursor over the picture you want to display you will see some internet codes come up. One will look like this

Right click and copy over that code. Paste it into your reply on this thread.

I personaly would like to see a close up of the saddles, a end on view of the heel end of the neck. I'd also like to see the neck pocket and underside of the neck heel.

Others will likely want to see the underside of the pickguard and the body cavities.

Looking at first photo, the tuners don't appear to be vintage.

but you can see where the originals outline the headstock and original screw holes, unless my eyes deceive me.

Remove the neck and check the date printed on the side. If it's an original 62 it should look like this,

its worth 1 in the hand and 2 in the bush.....WOW
looks pretty legit to me, either that or very very very good fake.

the tuners, i wouldnt be surprised that the originals were replaced in the 80s.

The guitar looks real, slightly modified, but real.

I agree, it does look good. The serial number is right for mid '62, of course those can be purchased on eBay. I just wonder about the relief on the back of the body, is that deep enough for a '62? It looks more like a 70s relief size to me. The pickups also look like 70s flush poles, I can't see a stagger on them, maybe my sight is bad? And, shouldn't the case be brown instead of tweed? (case looks new) Like nikininja said "... see a close up of the saddles, a end on view of the heel end of the neck,... the neck pocket and underside of the neck heel.... the underside of the pick guard and the body cavities."

Like others have said, definitely not original tuners and a string tree was added.

Yes, we would need to see more pictures to become more certain.

Anyone considering buying it should demand the detailed pictures.

barth was one of the first fender-dealer in germany.

tuners arent original - the first stringholder is an original - the 2. seems to be a 64 65. neck is an original slab ! nut is original - frets are original, decal is original. dot spacing is ok ! serial passed.
plasticparts - looking fine.

for the rest - need more pics !

nice strat !

Looks nice. I got a '62 from May and the SN was in the 85XXX range and had similar mods. Different tuners and the extra string tree was standard procedure in the 70s and 80s, now everyone's kicking themselves. Those 30 bucks in parts now cost them 1000s off the resale. Doh. Fine by me, as I could never have afforded it otherwise. You can always swap tuners and plug holes. Enjoy.

The sunburst looks a little funny to me... looks refinished or uneven or did they do an inconsistent job back then?
