Probably has a burr you can feel. Smooth it out with an extra fine file or steel wool. Hope this helps.......... 8) Mike

i had the same problem on my strat, turned out to be the saddle. instead of filing the thing, i decided to splurge and get a new set :P . but yeah you should be able to feel the problem with your finger and file it right off.

The previous suggestion of just replacing the saddle is a good one. Pretty much all Squier saddles are questionable, depending on the year, many MIM saddles get tiny rust spots and imperfections that can rub a string. Most USA saddles are good quality unless someone as abused them.

Filing, no matter how careful you are, can create even more rough spots.

Buy a whole set of branded saddles (Fender imprint stamped steel are popular now). Install them, set string height and intonation....and your problem should be fixed.

Mate you could be wasting your time and money with new saddles. I've seen the same problem occur on brand new saddles a few times.

The absolute best and easiest way to sort this problem out is to file the slot smooth with a old broken bass string. Simply run it through the saddle a few times, across the slot of the saddle.

You'll need to clamp the saddle in a vice before you can do it.

Thanx Mate, I'll give it a try before the saddle purchase.
