I should've wrote the serial number down, but I saw a strat I liked and wondering if it is original or not.

Did they ever make one that has these items:

It was Mexican Made, had vintage tuners, a Rosewood fretboard, was black with a black pickguard, it was labeled "Deluxe", had 2 open faced humbuckers with a 5 position switch. It had a tremolo and the bridge pieces were more of the vintage type that aren't flat, they are on and angle and have a hump where the set screw is.

Sorry, I don't have pics and that's all the info. I liked it and was wondering if it's rigged or if it was a factory thing.

Thank you for your help!

It was a lot like that one, but it wasn't a squier I'm pretty sure. It was a black body and the pickups had those holes you can actually see into, instead of the solid round bars or whatever they are. And it was actually kind of heavy for a strat. Which I thought was interesting. Not tons, but a hair heavier.

If I ever get back there, I'll take pics.

Yeah pics would help a lot!

I think there was an all black Mexican made Double Fat Strat (HH configuration) for a while. Yes it would have had open coil humbuckers without pickup covers.

As for the vintage style tuners...that's a mystery. Either they were put on by the previous owner or the guitar wasn't part of the MIM Standard model line since they have modern tuners. Maybe it was an MIM Deluxe. It's just a guess. I quickly looked for a pic on the net but couldn't find one. I'll consult my plethora of old Fender catalogs at home unless someone here can chime in.

Sounds like a Fender Deluxe Double Fat Strat.

Either that or it is a Fender Deluxe Fat strat that has been modded to (HH).
The Deluxe fat strat has everything you listed

It WAS labeled deluxe. Would that make vintage tuners proper? It was very much like the one shown above, but it was HH set up. And like I said, vintage tuners. What kind of humbuckers are those called when they have open holse like that?

I was wrong, there was no holes in the buckers. Just solid thingys. The serial # is MZ2122255. It says Deluxe Edition in very small writing on the head.

I like the way it played and sound. The 5 way selector switch seems to go 1 position bridge humbucker, 2nd position bridge single coil, 3rd position both humbuckers, 4th position neck single coil, 5th position neck bucker. That's what it sounded like to me.

I'm seriously thinking about this guitar, because I've been eyeing the blacktop series anyways, and this is much like this. Plus a little cheaper because it's used and it seems in decent shape. It the same bridge as the blacktop anyways.

Is there a database I can put that serial number in? Or call them?

Oh my that was cool. I just called CS at Fender and the guy was very helpful. I gave him the serial number and he told me exactly what it was and how it was wired. It appears to be original. Hmmmmmmmmmm.......
