Hello,

I am trying to find the best little online sites to get a great used American Fender Stratocaster.

Specifically Im looking for the Special Edition Fender Voodoo Strat.

I also like to scour the interwebs for smaller guitar retailers and see what type of speciality goods they are selling.

I am looking for reputable dealers that that have great little gems at reasonable prices.

FLeabay is out of the question because I have no idea what they are selling.
Big stores like guitarcenter or musician's friend over price thier used gear.

So please post your best local shops that have gear online to sell and please post any leads you may have on a Voodoo Strat.

Thanks,
NARCO!

A few months back I saw one at Atomic Music in Beltsville, Md (DC metro area). It had a sizeable ding by the rear strap holder, but otherwise was fine, and played real nice. I think they wanted around $400. White finish, maple neck/fingerboard, reverse headstock. I asked if it was a MiM Hendrix strat, and they insisted it was a Voodoo strat. Hope that helps - good luck.

Ahhhh decisions. I've been contemplating parting ways with my most recently acquired Voodoo strat, but I am by no means a guitar shop and I don't think Fender allows sales within their forum. It's a great looking black one in great condition with a maple neck. I just don't play it nearly as much as my other two Voodoo strats because you can only play so many guitars. I haven't made up my mind about parting ways with it but if I do I'll get ahold of you.

Regarding ebay, there is always an inherent risk with dealing over Ebay, but you can also find some real gems. I've gotten all three of my Voodoo Strats through ebay. I was completely against ebay before, and I typically emphasize the necessity of playing a strat before buying, but I have really lucked out with my grabs from ebay. The problem is that with a rare guitar like this, you barely ever see them in person and so you don't really have the option to play them. Just make sure it's from a reputable seller and make sure to ask a billion questions before you take the dive.

I like your strategy of checking out as many smaller stores as possible. The only problem is the low chance of success and the amount of time it will take to find one.

I would keep an eye on these sites

http://www.daddys.com/
Daddy's Junky Music- got a nice strat plus ($600), Elite strat (850) and Marshall Class 5 amp ($250). Internet sales manager Bob Foley is tops and they will "trade" gear.

this one seems to be lots of small stores and

police auction house, never know what you will find, got another strat plus ($550)- they recently had a PRS CE24 gold top, strat plus and Epiphone LP all at the same time.
You could also get a pick gaurd and make your own if you got a body with the right rout http://www.wdmusic.com/pickguard_stvd_200.html
