I am lucky enough to own a 1997 Hendrix strat. It was the woodstock style one in white with maple fretboard. The headstock logo was reversed like a mirror image. It was only built for a few years I believe. Does anyone know what this guitar would fetch today and if it is worth hanging on to as an investment?

Joe.

They sold one at GuitarsandEffects.com for $1500 not too long ago.

I'd hang on to it if I were you.

I have three 1997 Hendrix Strats as of now (Voodoo Strats, not the left handed Tribute model), and I plan on holding on to them for a while. They have already appreciated in value greatly since I purchased them.

The Tribute models seem to be going for more than the Voodoo Strats right now, but this is a trend that fluctuates. I've seen the Tribute models lately going for anywhere from $1700 to $2900 (mint). On the other hand, Voodoo Strats have been going for anywhere from $1300 to $2400 (mint). This all depends on condition and also what original components you have. The case candy with these strats goes a lonnnnnnng way for increasing the value. If you have the original ACE strap and white coil cable and any other case candy, you could probably sell it in the higher part of the range. These straps on their own have gone for upwards of $200 on Ebay.

If you have no reason to get rid of it, I would hold onto it and just enjoy it. Don't lock it in a vault or anything; it will naturally appreciate little by little as more and more of these things disappear and get parted out for cash.

I think it depends largely on the condition of your 97 tribute model. If it's in perfect condition, all the case candy, then it's obviously going to be worth more.

This one for example probably will take a while to sell or won't sell for the asking price because it has been altered with the added strap button for a lefty. It could take a step out for some people, but for collectors, that doesn't help.

With all case candy, case in good condition, and guitar in good condition, it will just raise in value. It probably will anyway, but never be worth as much as others that are in good condition.

I'm actually looking to get my hands on one right now, not to keep in it's case though, I want to play that thing!

Thanks for the advice guys.

Absolutely agree its gotta be played, beautiful guitars weren't built to be left in the case.

Joe.
