I'm not getting the same sound I used to out of my American Deluxe HSS and Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue Amp. Last week it sounded fantastic. The last couple of days, I seem to be getting a lot more finger noise and sour sounding notes. Plus the output from my amp is not the same, no matter where I set the controls. I know strings play a big part, but what if it's not the strings? How do I tell if it's something with my tube amp or a pick up on the guitar? Or am I just going crazy?? Has anyone else had a similar problem? If so, what did you do? Thanks!

How long have you had the amp, how much use does it get?

Could be your tubes decaying over time.

I purchased the amp 3 yrs ago at a local guitar store. The person who had it before me bought it new but only had it for 6 months, then decided to get a Marshall Stack instead. I had my eye on Fender Twin, they showed me the Blues Deluxe and I really like the sound and the look. So I purchased it. I've used it everyday at night for an hour to hour and a half, but on weekends I could use it for 3 - 4 hours tops. It's a great sounding amp, but something has changed about it, and I wondered if it might me a tube going bad. The pickups on the guitar, all 5 settings and the S1 switch all sound good. Besides I have the guitar checked often. Thanks!

Almost 100% has to be the tubes mate.

Get some new ones in there either at your local music store to fix it for you. Or you can have a crack at it yourself.

Check out this youtube vid for information on how to do it
