Its Another model to offer people who dont want to mess around with pickups and routing and mods.

It has a purpose to a select group :) if they are full of crap then thats fine because half the people on here say they love the HW1 strats yet when they describe them they are esentially gutted and left with stock neck n body :D

Chill braa

Best Wishes

Really enjoy Beck's playing styles. Very unique. Saw the Ronnie Scott Video recently. Not surprised that he has Humbuckers. But aren't they Sevmour Duncan's dual coil? The deal with those pickups are that they fit in the same slot as the single coils and at least the guitar maintains the distinctive look and style. And yes I do like the Vintage stlyes.
So you're opinion of the 2 point Tremelo isn't as good aa the 6 point.
I have wondered if it would be a step forward or backward.
Are you familar with Ed Roman of edroman.com he makes Pearlcasters, as well as others, and uses a tremolo with ball bearings (Rockwell hardness) and even has some of the original PRS Tremolos before PRS went cheap. If you haven't done so, check out his website. I know he is a take or leave kind of guy but he worked for several major guitar companies and has some interesting rants. If the website loads and you get Guitar King of Las Vegas, you are there. Also has Kit guitars, you can build your own Strat for around $129 USD.
Enjoyed the discussion Nikiniaja (Hope I got that correct)
Rock on!

Yeah them Beck pickups are either Suhr stacked humbuckers, SCN's or Hot Noiseless. Thats what he uses these days apparently. Essentialy their all humbuckers made to look like singlecoils by having one coil ontop of the other. I like SCN's out of the 2. The Suhr pickups, Fender are maybe releasing a limited number of sets of. Sometime 2011, if it happens.

I don't think the 2 point trem is anywhere near as durable as the 6 point trem. Simply because of the mechanics of it. 2 knife edges meet 2 pivot posts and that supports the same amount of pressure that the 6screw design does. It's basicaly a slim Floyd rose non locking bridge. Van Halen used to wear them Floyd Roses out in a matter of weeks (2 or 3)
I believe the wearing down of those 2 knife edges is a cause of a lot of the tuning issues people have.

I've read a lot of Ed Roman's stuff. Some I agree with, some I don't and some I'm undecided on.
Like all these people he wants to sell guitars and will do/say near anything to do so. Theres not much integrity in the market anymore.
You got a good deal out of him then? Spill the beans.
Unfortunately it would cost me a Gibson 59VOS in shipping and import taxes to buy from him.

Someone said "Why not buy a les paul if you want that sound". The black top strat more than likely wont sound anything like it. Just like an SG doesn't sound like an LP. It's different enough to make a difference in sound. Why change anything on any guitar than the original format? Because people want a different sound. And maybe like a certain platform, but not the "original sound" or even look for that matter. Who cares? We're all different. That's what is great about this country. We can do that and still be free. For the most part.

Saw a Blacktop Strat on Craigslist yesterday for $300. Guy said he was given a vintage Gretsch and no longer needed the Strat. Someone must have jumped on it because it's gone already.

I am personally thinking about wanting to get the blacktop tele for christmas. I really think the candy apple red is pretty bad A$%, and I do like a black-on-black look, and I've heard a lot of good things about the alnico 5's. Plus I would have a cheaper guitar to take to college instead of my strat, so why not give it a shot?

my two-cents worth...
