Not sure the reason other than introducing it as a different option from other Fender guitars.

After owning a Hwy 1, I prefer the jumbo frets. I had the neck for my custom Telecaster built with jumbos because i liked them so much on my Hwy 1.

I prefer small vintage frets on a 7.25" radius.

Jumbos on a flat board feel like somebody installed speedbumps on runway 21R at Nellis AFB.

Bigger frets are a little easier to bend notes with and bar-chord for me. I have a HW1 also and like the jumbos, but I think medium jumbos for my tastes are just about perfect.

I don't like those 6105 frets Fender is using on some Strats now....I own one and let my son use it because of the frets,if he brings it back it's going to be refretted to a vintage type.
The speed bump remark by Arjay is the way I feel....I can bend strings without climbing a ladder. :)

I like the medium jumbo frets on the Amer. Std. Is there really a significant height difference between the Medium jumbo and the Jumbo frets?
Perhaps I need to track down a 'jumbo' fret instrument to see how it bends.
