Jimi I still miss you. I love your playing and especially your creativity. I still wonder what the world would be like if you had lived.

I'll meet you in the next world, but I'm already late....

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.

I was 12 years old in 1967 and count myself fortunate to have been mesmerized by Hendrix while he was still alive. Back then, there was no Internet and the only way you really heard about anything was word-of-mouth or the fledgling FM radio stations. Once I heard HIM, I was hooked and to this day, every day, I have listened to the greatest guitarist who ever walked this earth. Hendrix has too many songs to pick out a favorite. But if pressed to pick 5, this is my list, in no order:

(1) Machine Gun (from the Band Of Gypsies album). That lead solo...
(2) Little Wing. Unbelievably beautiful. Do you know the story behind it?
(3) Voodoo Child (Slight Return) Wah wah wow..
(4) Are You Experienced. Liquid audio best sex you ever had.
(5) Can You See Me (From Monterrey). He really made those Marshall's roar.

If you ask me tomorrow, I might have 5 different choices.

While that is true, and I am thankful he was with loaned to us if only for a short time, I still grieve. Forty years and counting.

I like Bill Hicks' quote- 'he was sent to us by extra terrestrials. "Show them how its done brother. We'll pick you up in 27 years"''

While we are the topic of fave moments and childhood connections. Mine came from an appalling Alan Douglas released compilation on cassette entitled "Johnny B. Goode". It had a live version of Machine Gun. There is this 30 second intro I would play over and over again. It sounded so mecurial and fluid. Years later I would discover that the sound came courtesy of a uni-vibe and the actual perfomance was from Berkeley University. I bought the live cd a few weeks ago. I hadn't heard that intro in 20 years. Still blows me away and keep pressing repeat.

Good music once is good music forever, imho.
Yep,I would hit repeat again.
I copied a video of the Berkley performance off tv a long time ago and the beginning showed the coolest thing,a guy was walking down the street and "Can You See Me" by Hendrix started playing, the guy walks down into an alley where some paint buckets were and started SLINGING paint on a brick wall in different colors, while the song played...you could see the picture taking form as he splashed paint on the wall and when the song ended it was a great picture of Jimi, headband on,playing.
Has anyone ever seen that? I loved watching it.

It is almost hard to believe you have been gone for 40 years. Thanks for all the music you created during your short time here on earth. Thanks also for stashing your creations away for us so we could always have something "new" to hear from you. The sounds you created from your stratocaster can never be duplicated and if not for you I most likely would not be playing today. Ride on brother, ride on.
