On this occassion I don't understand my personal betrayl of my loyalty to Fender to which I still love through and through, but soon to make friends with all my Strats and Fender Amps will be Ms GIBSON.

Can anybody please help me understand is this normal and have you done it too.

Retail AUD $3523 Sale Price I picked it up for AUD $2100. :D

Cheers.

Sounds to me like you're a guitar player, not a Fender Collector...

It takes a special kind of person to ignore the hundreds (thousands) of other guitars out there all waiting to sing for the right player...

There are a lot more ways to make a guitar than to stretch strings across a long chunk of wood...

MY unrequited love was a G&L Tele that was on consignment and just a bit out of reach at the time...

I'd call you normal, but then again I came to a Fender Strat only when one jumped off the wall into my lap and said "Take me home!"

Congratulations, and here's hoping you have the time to play all of those instruments as much as they deserve!!!<G>

Got me 2 Strats, a Tele, and an SG. Don't see a problem with it.

Not cheating at all 8) I own a Gibson '58 RI Tom Murphy LP amidst a gaggle of Fenders!

G'day TC, Mate I couldn't have put it any better than what you have.

Yes I am a player across three bands, lol I wish I was a collector..

In relation to being normal, my wife and some of my friends say that I am abnormal because they don't see the sense in spending money on guitars and amps...

I always reply " I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't gamble!!"
what do you do?

some say all of the above.

I reply well I don't have a problem then.

Yes I do my best to to play my Strats named as follows; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.....ahh well you get the picture :P

Every day I play a different tone.. I love it.

There is only one Strat that I don't play a lot of. I have noticed that all of the metal parts are all rusting and really self relicing. it is looking kind of cool.. I don't mind because it is a MIM that is low in my pecking order. Still fun to play though..

Thanks heaps for the replies every single one of you's that have taken the time out to do so.

I will post my SG sitting like a fish out of water amongst my Fender palace once I get her.

Cheers Everbody...

If it gets you the tone you want, buy it guilt free. Anyone argues with you, whip out your "disloyal" guitar and crush them with your magnificent tone!

Don't get me wrong - a company like Fender or Gibson put their name to a product it's pretty much a guarantee of a high manufacturing standard, so it's not so much brand loyalty as much as it's brand trust for me.

I have a bunch of Fenders and a bunch of Gibsons (amongst other brands). I like having the option and consider myself lucky to make the choice. Do I think of myself as a Fender guy? Yes. A Gibson guy? You bet.

I think if there was one brand, one guitar even, which did it all, wouldn't we all have one? Hard as they try, a Strat will never be a SG and a SG will never be a Strat.

If you were a painter, would you feel guilty about using blue paint instead of red? Of course not! So just love playing the hell out of it... if you do feel guilty, well sometimes the guilty pleasures are the best!

Once again , IT IS CHEATING AND YES IT WRONG.

Your are just another anakin waiting to get yout arm cutted away.

BTW I never noticed the philosofical paralelism between star wars and guitars.

Who play's yoda ? Gilmour looks kind of similar in these days, AMAZING !!!!

Keep the SG but just to remember what you have done.
