Once again--rosewood.
I like the way it feels on my fingers--but I also prefer ebony over rosewood.

I think rosewood has a better feel. I also like the look. A lot of maple necks, especially modern ones, look like scrap lumber with frets in it.

I have only rosewood fretboards on a few Strats. I like the way they look, especially after you give them the light lemon oil rub when restringing. To me, the maple fretboards look unfinished.

Then again, Clapton only plays maple board Strats...apparently for the "harder" tone.

Legend as it that Leo Fender saw someone playing a maple fretboard Fender on TV and didn't like the mottled discoloration that they take on after being played regularly. Until then, all Fender guitars had maple necks/fretboards. Yes, they do look "dirty" after a period of time. Some like that look, some don't.

I think it's pretty much personal preference...

I have both ... abput equally.

Sometimes I don't like the feel of the finish on the fingerboard of maple necks. And sometimes I don't like how a rosewood fingerboard gets dirty.

I don't notice a difference in sound.

This poll has been done a few times now . . .

I prefer maple, but my 'go to' Strat has rosewood.
