I was looking at this one:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-FSR- ... 1518258.gc
and the Fender 70s strat. Mainly this one because its better price wise. Do you like/dislike this one or the 70s strat, or what do you reccomend to me. I was looking at the Jimmie Vaughn sig tex mex one but that seems a little out of my price range, but I guess if its really worth it I could try

Are you set on getting a new guitar? $600 - $700 would get you a pretty nice used guitar from Guitar Center. You can actually get a used Jimie Vaughan Strat from Guitar center for $399 right now. If you do buy new, make sure you score the 10% off all items over $399. I was looking for something new in the price range last year and went with an American Special. I absolutely love it.

+1 for the JV and american special

Try a Classic Player and a road worn, all 4 are great.

I would suggest you go down a play one, be sure to bring your own amp so you know how it will sound once you get it home.

If this one turns your crank then that is the one to get.
the last Strat i bought was a MIM standard H-S-S (Which is now S-S-S) and it plays great.
You might just want to get a standard and upgrade the pick ups to the custom shop ones you like.

I can vouch for the Jimmie Vaughn,it's a phenominal guitar and if you can get one for around $400 go for it and you will never regret it.

Yeah, the JV is at one of the California Guitar Center stores. Listed at $399...if you can get them to price match Musicians Friend current 10% off used gear, your looking at $360. Its a 97 but the guitar tech said that it is in amazing condition, Olympic White too!!

are these new?, I don't recall the JV strats being 800 bucks
anyhow, that used one is still listed at 399

if you want noiseless and spend about the same, I would go with this

I personally in the price range you are talking about would suggest a Roadhouse Strat or a Vintage 60's player Strat..
Or another choice if you can find one would be a used American Standard..

I totally agree on the used American idea. Then u likely get a case too. Holds its value better as well
