Tortoise pickup covers, knobs, etc. I think would be a bit much. And this is coming from someone who has a tortoise pickguard and backplate on a Natural Ash Strat.

That's what I finally deciced after seeing one on line. But what about a Sunburst with White PickGuard and TS Covers and Knobs. It still seems odd that it's not a more available choice for after market parts.

Rosewood and figured maple would be a big hit as pup covers. Thought of that a while back, but couldn't find a proper post to post it until now. I like the idea you have, but then again it does have it's flaws, for one, if everything else did match it'd make a really ugly guitar. I like the knobs idea though, perhaps a tele metal knob with ts on the top  . I think humbuckers would look good with ts pup covers just because they'd stand out more. No idea on how that would effect sound though.

Getting back to wood I think it would work because the process wouldn't be hard to get used to, just either route the wood or bend it around and glue it. Also, there won't be that much wood being used. They could probably use scraps from cutting tops for the covers. Think about it, it'd be cool, but would it fit? Would it be big enough to notice? Would it catch on? Why the heck should you know?

Prolly the longest post yet, but thanks for reading if you've made it that far.

Figured Maple would look great on s TS pickguard with a Maple neck, as would rosewood on a dark neck. Tumbled Stone would look good too, like blood stone or agathis.

It was mentioned that contrast is key and I agree however there are special cases where you want to avoid that and give the illusion of a blend. Dean Zelinsky has a guitar called a Tagliare which is a Strat knock off. They offer a dual single coil pick up called a sidekick which looks like a standard uncovered humbucker. I do not like the look of humbuckers on Strats and Teles but did like the idea of a humbucker style pick up that can be coil split and not have that dreaded volume loss. So for the heck of it I asked them if they could build one with a tortoise pick guard and put matching tortoise covers on the second coils of the neck and bridge side kicks to give the illusion of a standard 3 single coil Strat while enjoying the tonal "bennys" of having two side kicks. Their answer was "NO" but they suggested that they could put black covers in place that "would accomplish the same thing". My reply was; "No, it would not". So here we are still looking for tortoise covers!!! Just thought I would share this as I really do not think I am the only one that noticed this if they have ever looked at these Tagliares.
