Hi all. I know that this is a very difficult question but any info or experience will be helpfull. I purchased an American deluxe Strat HSS a few months ago and according to the serial number DZ5155828 I could determine that it is in fact an American Deluxe strat and was made in 2005.
The problem arose with the color of the guitar. It is a whitish color (not Olympic pearl) with a Beveled Gold Vinyl pick guard. According to the current specs of the American deluxe HSS the combination of a whitish color with a Gold Vinyl pick guard and a rosewood neck is not in production. According to current specs the gold vinyl pick guard is only available with the Montego black color.
What makes it even more confusing is that the wrong tag was shipped with the guitar or misplaced in error by the music shop I bought it from. According the tag the model number is 0101302709 which is actually the V-Neck Stratocaster and definitely not the one I bought. This means that I do not even know the real model number of the guitar, which makes it difficult to determine the actual color. I cannot find it on the current Fender color chart.
Has anyone ever come accross one of these Deluxe HSS guitars that has a whitish color with a Gold Vinyl pick guard and rose wood neck? If you have, what is the color called and was it a standard production color in 2005 that has since been discontinued?

I had a similar problem. I bought a new am-series from the music store. It was actually a couple of years old (2004, which happens to be the 50th anniverary of the strat. Some of the strats that year had retro pickups and slightly different specs.). I was having problems determining the specs. To make matters worse, the part number listed on my sales receipt from "Big Name Music" store showed that my guitar was white. When in fact, the guitar is black.

I went back to the store and asked them to print me a new reciept with the correct part number. I thought it was going to be a big deal. They didn't have a problem with it. They printed one up right there on the spot.

I plan on keeping my guitar for life. But you never know. I thought it best to get all the paperwork correct. I am starting a file with all the information about the guitar, such as receipt, etc.

The "Fender Customer Service" was an excellent suggestion. You will probably get better information from them than you would a big name music store. But, still, you deserve to have the correct receipt. There is nothing Fender can do to help you there.

The 2005 Frontline catalog has a picture of an Amer. Deluxe V-Neck in "Honey Blonde" with the gold(ish) guard. The Honey Blonde color was only offered on the Deluxe V-Neck Strats that year. It's possible that the wrong neck was put on, or someone swapped necks.
