I am in the process of re-painting my Strat... Years ago I removed 2 of the 5 tremolo springs so I could augment it to bend up also as well as a good dive bomb... over time i have missplaced the 2 springs i removed. How could I get 2 more springs without having to import them from the States?... I might have to buy another guitar just to get 2 springs...

have you checked with your local music store? springs arent usually THAT expensive and the places by me always have a few in stock:

also, do you have a guitar laying around that you dont play? perhaps a spare spring or two can be used...?

You do not need 5 springs. Simply screw the trem claw in further if you want more resistance. Check out Fender's setup guide here: http://www.fender.com/support/stratocas ... _guide.php

Besides, did you know that Fender has been shipping Strats with only 3 springs for years and years now. It's OK. I don't know where you are located, but if you really want two more springs, just google "tremolo springs" and check out all the shopping results. Hundreds of places sell them online. You'll find something locally or that can ship to you.

Where is your question about re-painting your Strat? Have you stripped the original finish yet? Don't bother if it's a poly finish.

Hi billyboycott, welcome to the Forum.

Where are you?

Wherever you are, Fender authorised dealers either stock or can order trem springs. Just ask 'em.

And if you are anywhere in Europe - and most other places - those springs are also very easy to buy from online aftermarket parts sellers. Let us know which country you are in and we'll recommend a seller.

Cheers - C

I've got loads of trem springs knocking about Billy.

If you're in the UK I'll send you a couple.

I have a couple around but like doin' my own thing... it's a 1990 Strat, I've dis-assembled it and now I feel terrible because I feel like I maimed her...

Geez, it's a trem spring......a dime a dozen on Ebay!

If it were an original Chandler aged-mint pickguard or a '54 re-issue bridge with repro "Patent Pending" saddles, we'd understand.

Order up some new springs and don't look back -- you're flogging yourself over nothing.

How many did yours come with?
Most Strats are shipping with 3 springs these days.

You only need 3 unless your running larger strings.

You could have gotten it to float by adjusting the screws that hold the claw that holds the springs.
