Strange? No, Lucky yes.

If you don't want it I will be more then happy to take it off your hands.

Very king of you but I'll keep it for a while! I have now changed the trem block to steel and a pinup waterslide will get added this week end.

Btw - one of my old GF was asian, hence the comparison! 8)

I have just restrung the RW with proper strings (11-48) and the overall tone and string tension has improved. I love this plank and I'm starting to be very fond of the looks. I have polished and buffed it to get the sheen back - simply gorgeous.

I have found my Strat, 6 months ago I'd never have touched a MIM so glad I tried this one.

All mods done now:

- Buffed the body back to a sheen
- Oiled fretboard
- 11/48 strings fitted
- Full setup
- Bridge PU connected to tone pot
- Decal on backplate

It is now one of the best Strats I have ever played.

Nice sheen on the olympic white body:

Deeper rosewood thanks to the oil:

Pinup at the back:

Lots of luck with your new Strat!

On a tangent, examples like these two necks above are proof positive that MIMs are not unilaterally made 'across the board' of inferior timber vs. the MIA stuff. In spite of this, the usual unsubstantiated, "Infallible Web Dogma" shall surely continue to prevail in this area.

Martian - couldn't agree more - I even fell prey to whole USA or bust years ago... Around 97 or 98 I bought a CIJ RI '72 Tele Custom. My first electric. I could NEVER get over the fact that it wasn't an "Authentic USA" Tele. Never mind, it sounded and felt sweet!!! I always felt like it wasn't "the real thing." D U M B!!! I sold it a couple years later and kept only my acoustic. About 2 years ago, I got back into electrics and now I'm a bonafide guitar junky and I would KILL KILL KILL to have that guitar back - IT WAS SO FRIGGIN SWEET and I sold it because I bought the hype! Ugh kill me!!! :x

All I can say is, "Live and learn". I've said it here countless times, I've been playing Strats as my #1 guitar for over 43 years now. I've run the gamut from having super valuable Pre-CBS ones all the way to ones with all sorts of pedigrees and in spite of them all, my #1 Strat since 2008 is a MIM Deluxe Player (nicely tweaked, of course).

In today's age of modern technology, no one country has a stranglehold on quality or superiority any longer. Now it is more a question of who has the superior work ethic and collective pride which shall consistently churn out the best assembly line stuff. Note that I'm not knocking the MIA stuff by any means. Rather, I'm reinforcing your point that an outstanding Tele, Strat or whatever can easily come from Fender Japan AND Fender Mexico AS WELL AS Fender USA. Further, that one doesn't have to sell their left lung to afford a premium instrument which will give one satisfaction for many years to come.

You either love or hate the looks of the RW series but the build can't be faulted. Nowadays factory processes and materials mean you do not have to spend a fortune to get a great guitar.

2 piece alder body, flamed neck and nitro finish at this price? How much more would have I spent on a CS relic? Or a replica for this matter?

This one is the coolest Strat around. Just need to find a name for it now...

Yes, very cool.

Not "strange" at all!

Call it Norma.

Not sure about Norma after watching a few series of "Shameless" (broadcasted in the UK)...

Any suggestions? Maybe a Latin name to celebrate this great guitar from Ensenada?
