Hi,

I just bought a genuine white RW 60's from a Fender dealer but mine came with the following specs???

- Flamed maple neck
- 2 piece body (you can see the center joint with good lighting)

Can somebody tell me what the heck could have happened on the production line? Could it be US rejected parts reworked in ensenada?

The neck is supposed to be plain and the body 3 pieces, having both these extra features on 1 guitar is too much for a coincidence.

Hi olioli: I have a feeling you've read more of this Forum than you've posted. So you probably know what I'm going to say next.

Pictures please! :D

(I want to see how flamey that neck is.)

Cheers - C

Theres nothing to say that the body has to be XXX number of pieces and that the neck should be plain old boring looking maple.

I think you just got lucky mate. Keep it up

Dont worry about the center join being visible through the paint. I don't have a guitar where you can't see the joins.

Hi Nick: I was thinking the same way. But I'd like a look at that neck - be fun if it indeed turned out to be an outrageously flamed CS type plank of wood.

But it won't.

Sounds like you got a sweet guitar! It's not unusual to get a NICE MIM Fender... I got this neck on a plain old MIM Standard... :o

As others have mentioned, anomalies such as yours do occur. It would seem as though you've got one of those "one-in-a-thousand" combinations of very attractive features. Sounds like a keeper to me!

Wow that flamed neck is something!

Here is mine, the pics are not too good so I added the shop picture:

I have just connected the bridge pu to the middle tone - it should show it's teeth with lots of gain.

+1 - I'd love to see it too, particularly the front of the headstock - stunning flame worth of a CS model!

Regarding mine I'm over the moon with this ''happy accident''...Custom shop specs for $700!!! (apart from the pickups). I tried the tone mod and it works just perfect to tame that bridge pickup - it now has a real Blackmore snarl when you turn the tone down to 6 and push the gain all the way up.

The tex mex PUs are staying. Only 2 mods to do and I have my dream strat:

1 - Steel block for the trem
2 - PinUp waterslide on the back plate

Thanks for the kind words guys! Here's my story: I picked up my flamey MIM Strat new at my local Guitar Center. The neck really cought my eye so I grabbed it off the wall and it felt really nice. However, when I played it, I found it was set up just terribly with the action really high and the intonation was WAY off. It was so bad, I really thought someone bought it and found the neck was twisted and tried to compensate with major truss rod adjustment or something -paranoia? Anyway, it did look like it was out of the box a while since it had a couple dings and smudges. I figured whoever may have bought it couldn't make it work and returned it. It was just way too nice LOOKING to be sitting there, but then again it played like crap... Anyway, I brought it home and just gave it a total set-up and after that it has become my favorite guitar! :o

Here's some pics of the whole guitar - it's the one with the black pick guard (originally came with white).

I'm a big Gilmour fan...

I dyed the plastic and installed CS '54s (though I do like the stock pups)

Great looking neck! I am glad your axe turned up with some serious mojo!

I have not put my RW down in three days...even brought it at work to do the wiring mod and play a bit. It's the first time I have not touched one of my top 3 guitars for this length of time.

I guess it taught me that you can't judge a strat by the price tag or its origin.

BTW - Anybody else thinks the 60's RW neck is one of the very best to play in the Fender range? It's as silky as a geisha's backside!
