I predict that by 2020, every major (and even minor) guitarist known for playing a Fender will have some type of a signature model. Who hasn't got one yet?

Nobody's yet mentioned that as well as a nice PT J-200 Gibson also have done several Pete Townshend Sig Les Pauls. A goldtop, a burst and this:

The wine red #1 deluxe with mini-humbuckers and the extra DiMarzio in the middle, plus additional controls to drive it.

I'm not much interested in signature guitars, but if I'd had the spare cash and found myself in a silly enough mood I could have been tempted by that one, for sentiment's sake. I had the honor of seeing Mr Townshend mistreat the original from about six feet away back in the day, and it left a very strong impression on my mind...

I also think there could be a niche market for a Townshend Strat as a player, not just as a collectable. There has been a big vogue for magnetic-piezo hybrids in the last handful of years and Fender have been largely missing out on it. The PT Strat covers that base neatly - and being built upon the EC chassis it should be a fundamentally well-handling guitar too.

Cheers - C

Personally I'd like to see a copy of Clapton's Brownie added to the Tribute Series from the CS alongside the Rory Strat...

Rickenbacker has produced a Pete Townshend Model-a 360 I Believe and Gibson has made a Pete Townshend SG model so I guess it's only fitting that Fender get on the bandwagon and make a Pete Townshend model.

Don't forget the Schecter PT Telecaster.
