So I have on occasion seen some vintage style saddles on Strats where the low E string saddle has the inner screw adjusted a little bit higher than the outside adjustment screw. Same thing goes for the high E string to.

So basically now if looking eye level from base of bridge you see the saddles are angled. The low E string peaks higher alongside the A string (hope I explained that simply)

Anyhow I'm trying to set the bridge radius on my guitar and need to know if I should have the saddles angled like this, or if this is incorrect and all should be horizontal to base of the bridge.

If angles it is, are these the only two saddles to angle?

Thanks for any info!

There's good reason to keep all the saddles parallel to the base plate of the bridge. It ensures good contact between the string and saddle, stops the string sliding on the saddle. Loads of reasons.

However I keep the outside of the low E saddle lower than the inside. I angle the A strings saddle too. The reason? Because I find it a lot more comfortable than having those two saddles parallel.

Try both ways. As long as you're not too drastic in the angles, you will be fine.

If you don't find it any more comfortable then please keep your saddles parallel. It is the position for optimum performance.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to angle the E just a bit. I figure it's easier to lower it down if I don't like it this way, than opposed to giving it an angle later on. This is the first time I have tried doing a setup on a Fender style bridge, but I have a radius gauge to help make things easier.

Thanks again!
