If you had exactly the same guitar but swapped the neck over...

Can someone explain the difference in feel they would experience between a rosewood and a maple neck and how one or the other would feel superior?

I didn't swap the neck over but did do a side by side sound test of maple and rosewood boards. Same hardware, same pickups and wiring on both guitars.
Theres nothing in it that couldn't be attributed to picking harder or differing pickup heights, which I wasn't too vigilant about.

On the differences in the way the fingerboards feel. I think that is wildly over emphasised too. In normal use, you hardly toch the fretboard. You certainly never push the string down to it. See for yourself, try and push the string down to the fretboard. Choose a easy fret 3rd or 4th where theres plenty of space between frets but not too near the nut.
You'll use a load of pressure, way more than you would in normal play, and still won't touch the wood. You'll cut into the frets first.
OrvilleOwner put me onto that one. I was dumbfounded when I discovered it to be correct.
All that wear you see on old maple boards is from having fingernails too long.

Hi Nik I can definitely feel some resistance on a rosewood board over that of a maple board when doing agressive bending where I really dig my fingers in especially around the 7th to 14th fret area.I think that with lower profile frets the strings definitely make contact with the wood and that's how I can feel the texture of the rosewood when doing heavy bends.

Honestly mate, take a good look, they dont. Average fret height is around 1.6mm. You can get down to 0.8/7mm before you have to refret, 0.5mm if you really push it on a guitar neck.
Get a rule and try and press the High E (at concert pitch or Eb) down to the board at the 3rd fret. It really does take a load of pressure to get anywhere near, even with the fret height at around 0.8mm.
It shocked the hell out of me when I was corrected on it, I couldn't believe it and had to go see for myself.

Theres a lot of confusing data about fretwire. This page goes to great lengths to explain it.

Well I'm glad you said that because I cannot feel the difference. I never press that hard and if I did I'd be playing out of tune.
I was hoping for one of the other guys to enlighten me on feel.

Between the maple and rosewood boards I can pick out a sound difference quite easily however. Maple sounds brighter to me.

In your video a person commented that maple gives more attack.
Actually you played with more attack on the second strum.

I'm satisfied why I like rosewood on Strats and Maple on Teles anyway I have 3 Rosewood Strats and 2 Maple Teles at the moment.
The Teles are way brighter ;) hhehe.

Because of a thoughtless oversight on my part, the pickups were set differently too.

There are far too many other dynamics in the equation to say that maple is brighter than rosewood,I have played maple necked Strats that are very mellow and conversely rosewoods that were very bright.Pickup windings or height, the tonewood in the body, the density of the neck and body woods and even the electronics in the controls and metal hardware all come into play affecting the overall sound of the guitar. The perception that maple necks are brighter is just that-a perception.
