Nothing wrong with that at all. But correct me if I'm wrong, didn't you just ditch your tele too Nevin?

If thats the case then, sorry mate, we'll have to show you the door.

Just kiddin.

One really against the grain suggestion on your pickup woes. You could try ceramics, a set of MIM ceramics. Way more beef than alnico's and clarity under a decent wodge of gain.

You may want to experiment on your strat and wire the bridge and mid in series. Leave the neck alone. Have a 3way instead of 5way switch. You could have
Bridge/Mid Series
Bridge/Mid series, Neck parallel
Neck.

+1

Now that is a great idea! 8)

I'm putting that on my "Mods To do" list.

nevin, i was in a similar situation. i got bored of scn's.(well thought they just lacked a little zing).
i installed 2 custom shop texas specials and a dimarzio 36th anniversary paf.
with coil tap for the bridge and blender pot for the neck and bridge.
have the best of both worlds.
texas specials have that mid range and well humbucker has that thickness the scns lacked.
i forgot to mention when the hb is in single coil, i get more of tele sound.
also after i got the hot rod deville, i loved my les paul again...

Dear Nevin,
I've decided that you need to be shown kindness and grace, after denouncing single coils. In lieu of this, I will take your now disliked single coiled guitars for you. I will not charge you, and only ask that you pay the shipping. You're welcome.

they're really good now, I got the pre-wire pickguard and the way it came the pickups just sounded muddy to me with no "percussive" ability at all. I like to be able to hear a little bit of attack when I get down on the strings. A change from the stock .055 cap to a .022 was like night and day with the pickups. I went from barely playing the guitar to it being my #2 player. Really nice now after the alteration.
