I'm no expert, but when I opened up mine there was a lot of empty space in there, so if that's what a "swimming pool route" is, then probably.

My Mexi does not have the swimming pool route. It's a 1999 body though.

A swimming pool route is were they cut one square hole under your pickguard. When this is done you can put any pickup configeration in your strat.Howerever the other way is its cut for each specific pickup. They say this way is better for tone.

My '05 mexican strat has 3 swimming pool routes. I do think the middle one might be slightly smaller. Perhaps too small for a middle humbucker. The neck and bridge can easly fit one though.

No your strat is the way it should be done with each cavity cut for a single coil pickup. On the old mim strats there was one big cavity cut then you could put humbuckers in without modifing your body. The strat you have now if you wanted a humbucker you would have to cut the body and pickguard to fit.The reason they used this swimming pool route was cheaper manufacturing. But from what ive seen of the new mim strats they are much better then some of the older ones.
