I wire all my guitars this way. If you control your amp's drive with the guitar's volume knob, it's a godsend. It makes a world of difference in usability for me.

On humbucker-equiped guitars, there is a subtle, yet, important opening up in the top end of the response with the volume maxed. I don't know if I hear as much on single coil guitars.

The other important aspect is how the tone and volume knob interact, some people like this more than others.

Overall, a very important mod for me.
