What's the difference between classic player and classic series?

also is there any difference between the pup's of the 50s classic player and the 60s classic player?

What's the best choice (I want a maple neck so 60's classic is out of question)?

- 50's classic
- Classic Series 50
- Classic Series 70
- Deluxe Players

- Highway One (this is last resort but be true anyway...)

Thanks

classic series have mim vintage pickups, they are ok.
i used a ts808 to thicken the sound and give it character.
the cp 60s have cs 69 pickups , excellent pups.
the cp 50s have 57/62 pickups which are currently in mia vintage reissue
50s 60s strats. also excellent.
the 69s in my opinion are mid scooped more than the 5762 pups

then we have the hwy 1, shouldnt be last resort because its an excellent strat, covers alot ground and handles gain better than any non single fender made that i have played. IMO

in that price range also check out the am special, basically same specs as the hwy 1, but texas specials and the paint is poly i believe...

good luck.
ps.... this is my opinion, cs 69s have john mayer vibe.
57 62 have srv toned down a bit, andjimmy hendrix castles made of sand
tone with a little dirt...
hwy1 have robin trower kinda tone

Well, there are lots of reviews online. Here are two that point out the features of each. I've got a Classic Players '50s and its a great guitar...

Why rule out the Highway1 mate, or leave it t a last resort. It's a very good guitar from my limited experience of em.
Personaly I just dont like big headstocks. If I could find a older smaller headstock one for sale, I'd snap it up.

I own the Classic Player Baja Telecaster. If that is any indication of that line of guitars, they are very good. Not without fault, but very good non the less. Designed by master builders and in a lot of ways the flagship Mexican models.

The Classic series is meant to represent the original models, with close to original specs. The Classic Player series is a more modern version on classic models which usually means - more modern spec necks with bigger frets, thiner back contours and flatter radius fingerboard.

Fender allowed themselves more room for modifications on the CP series, so you should expect some unique features... including different pickups.

There's no such thing as the "best" choice. What do you want in terms of musical style, playability, even looks? what necks are you used to? the vintage Fender necks are not for everyone. I really don't feel comfortable with them, while some love them...

Oh, and I really like my maple neck Highway 1 Strat...

The Classic '50s and '60s re-issues have the original 6-screw vintage trem bridge while the Classic Player models use the newer 2-point type.

i just had opportunity to play a highway1 and a classic players side by side.
hands down the HW1 plays and feels way better than a players.
the classic players deluxe is anice guitar, but for $100 more, i gladly took the HW1.
