I tried one out that was in Candy Apple Red; besided that and black I remember seeing ads with a blue one (I think it was Lake Placid Blue but it could have been Sonic Blue) and white (again, not sure if it was Artic White or Vintage White).

Mine (60s) was a three-tone sunburst and I know the 50s with the maple neck was available with a two-tone sunburst.

I actually ordered a 50s, but waited so long for it (don't remember exactly how long, but it was a couple months) that when it came and it was a 60s I kept it anyway.

SWEET find for $200!!

The puch/pull is a coil tap for the humbucker, so you can split it for single coil or full humbucker use.

According to the VG Price Guide an HRR Strat is worth $400-$450.

Sorry, for posting to this so late, but I have some info you may be interested it.

I've owned several HRR strats over the last view years. If you google "HRR Strat", you will find a pic of three of my HRRs against a sofa. The pic is also on this forum. I became a big fan of these several years ago.

They were produced from 89-94. In 89, they were originally produced with a Kahler Steeler, before Fender began using Floyd Rose trems in 1990.

The were available in black, olympic white(new cream), red, sonic blue(these usually turn surf green), three tone sunburst (HRR60's only), and two tone sunburst (HRR50's only). I have the original manufacturer ad to prove it.

In the later years they were also available in Fotoflame crimson and Fotoflame blue. The Fotoflames are the rarest finish, and are more common in the Squier version of HRR. The Story as I've heard it, the HRRs were so good, they rivaled the more expensive Fender Stratocaster Floyd Rose Classic, Made in USA model, so they were discontinued. Fender Japan then manufactured the Floyd Rose Squier, which unlike the HRR, had a Floyd Rose II, only 21 frets, standard neck heel, only rosewood fretboard. Many people try to sand of "Squier Series" of these, and sell them as HRRs.

Now, since I've purchased and sold several of these over the years, I have pretty good knowledge of what these sell for. But first off, let me say these are a diamond in the rough. You won't find a new guitar of this quality for under $900.

How much do these sell for?

I've seen these sell on Ebay between the low $300-$750, depending on the condition and the finish. $200 is unheard of. That's a steal.

The TBX Tone Control

This is a novel tone control that does a little more than what you already have in your guitar. The name of the TBX tone control comes from an acronym for "Treble and Bass Cut" (cut = "x" in Fender-speak). A conventional tone control only cuts the high end of your guitar's signal. However, the TBX can either cut the high end like a regular tone control *or* it can cut the bass to bring out more brightness in your tone.

How does it work?
In the middle position (e.g., "5"), the tone control is at a "10" relative to how most tone controls read. In other words, it is bypassed. Now, when you turn it to 10, you cut the bass and effectively increase the prominence of the treble in your tone.
Conversely, turned to 0, the TBX sounds just like a conventional tone control turned all the way down. The nice thing is that Fender makes these such that the potentiometer finds a little resistance grove at 5, so you know exactly where the middle position is when you turn it to that spot

Send your serial number to
customerrelations@fender com
They will get back to you with all of the information they have.
I did it for my two MIM Strats and they got back to me in less than 48 hours with all the information I was looking for.

I have the same problem, only mine most likely has a different neck on it. I have a thread over at strat-talk and if some of you guys could maybe take a look and see what you think about it, that would be awesome and I would really appreciate it.

On your first topic viewtopic.php?f=15&t=98165 I gave this advice: "it's considered polite to add pics in your posts; it saves the members that extra click and thus increases your chances to get answers"
That still applies - a link to that other forum is, for some, a sacriledge... And anyways, trying to jump between pics on your previous topic and on that other forum is a major PIA.

On your guitar: I (think) read "MAR ?? 1996" on the neck pocket stamp (and there just maybe a 54175, which probably is just my imagination and doesn't tell me anything anyways).
There's a Micro-Tilt™, which usually doesn't belong to MIM's but there have been MIM models with it.
Some MIM models only have one CNC hole.
The swimming pool route corners are weird...
So, at the moment I still call that an oddball - and: the neck & body aren't necessarily from one original guitar.
The above is of course just IMHO.

While you're at the process of attaching the pics on this forum (I'm an optimist), take some more; headstock back, wiring closeups etc. Maybe someone will know the exact(er) specs.
